Yes, it would help stimulate the economy by introducing new taxes. The drug cartel wouldn't have a stronghold because it is legal. My garden would be happy and fruitful.

Yes i think it should be legalized. Legalized marijuana would reduce the flow of money from the American economy to international criminal gangs. Marijuana's illegality makes foreign cultivation and smuggling to the United States extremely profitable, sending billions of dollars overseas in an underground economy while diverting funds from productive economic development. Marijuana is not a lethal drug and is safer than alcohol. It is established scientific fact that marijuana is not toxic to humans; marijuana overdoses are nearly impossible, and marijuana is not nearly as addictive as alcohol or tobacco. It is unfair and unjust to treat marijuana users more harshly under the law than the users of alcohol or tobacco. Marijuana is too expensive for our justice system and should instead be taxed to support beneficial government programs. Law enforcement has more important responsibilities than arresting 750,000 individuals a year for marijuana possession, especially given the additional justice costs of disposing of each of these cases. Marijuana arrests make justice more expensive and less efficient in the United States, wasting jail space, clogging up court systems, and diverting time of police, attorneys, judges, and corrections officials away from violent crime, the sexual abuse of children, and terrorism. Furthermore, taxation of marijuana can provide needed and generous funding of many important criminal justice and social programs. Marijuana use has positive attributes, such as its medical value and use as a recreational drug with relatively mild side effects. Many people use marijuana because they have made an informed decision that it is good for them, especially Americans suffering from a variety of serious ailments. Marijuana provides relief from pain, nausea, spasticity, and other symptoms for many individuals who have not been treated successfully with conventional medications. Many American adults prefer marijuana to the use of alcohol as a mild and moderate way to relax. Americans use marijuana because they choose to, and one of the reasons for that choice is their personal observation that the drug has a relatively low dependence liability and easy-to-manage side effects. Most marijuana users develop tolerance to many of marijuana's side effects, and those who do not, choose to stop using the drug. Marijuana use is the result of informed consent in which individuals have decided that the benefits of use outweigh the risks, especially since, for most Americans, the greatest risk of using marijuana is the relatively low risk of arrest. No, why becuz marijuana has not been approved by FDA or watever company that works in washington that signifies that something is safe. Marijuana kills brain cells and it may help with cancer but not always and if a doctor overdoses or miscalculates a patients dose the patient will get high and end up like the next micheal Jackson. Yes dmg it would help the economy but at what risk? If you legalize marijuana drug kingpins will be growing the drug more frequently and making even more money and killing more people. It will increase gang violence, increase crime rates, and lots of other negative things. Would you rather have a stable economy and have to sleep with one eye open at night? or would u rather live with a unstable economy and can sleep well without worrying about you and your childrens lives. Legalizing marijuana will be a colossal mistake which will only make America look like a bunch of thieves and hoodlums.

well... answer this question rev.... if a dr miscalculates a dose and the patient gets high? who is to blame? the doctor or the patient or the governent? the people are going to blame the doctors who more than likely will blame the government which leads me to another question:
Would you rather live with a unstable economy and sleep peacefully? or would u rather live in a stable economy and have to worry about you and your families saftey at night? cuz legalizing marijuana will just cause gang violence to be off the charts

i don't agree with that firestar, i'm not saying this because i'm a pot head or anything but i really believe the violence would go down... oh and i dont really get what you say about miscalculating a dose..... it's up to the customer to find out what their dose should be. read the first post i made, it argues with your statement perfectly. my moms friend is a doctor and she says she has to use some type of math method to find out the dose so if she miscalculates and the patient has a side effect she gets the blame.... explain to me how violence will go down if Marijuana becomes legalized? people grow it everywhere making it legal will make druglords even more greedy |

Yeah, but it'll cut into the druglords' profits also. If anybody can get a permit and go plant their own crops, or if they can buy from anybody, and not just the old dealers that worked for that druglord, then the druglord will lose money and won't be able to run things in the same way as before, he could even lose power and the ability to protect himself with bribes and force.
I'm for legalization, so long as it's taxed and regulated somewhat, there are psychological dangers to smoking pot long-term, so I believe that the community and even the country should be able to recoup some sort of tax income from the crops, which could possibly reduce our debt, etc.

If you take to much marijuana, it just tasts bad, it wont kill you or whatever. You might get a bad trip, but thats more mental. I don't think it should even tho it is in some states in America. I like weed don't me wrong, I use to smoke and sell quite often. But Marijuana is a drug so it can be addicting. So if they make it 100% legal then America will always be high off there ass. If the person gets addicted which is a 8/10 actual fact then that will take alot of time from others. For example parents will be either to sleepy or addicted to pay attention to there kids which could make the crime rate go up in the future. (seen it with my own eyes) or Some drug dealers like the rush or risk of selling drugs sad but true. So if you take that away from them I would hate to see how they would get there risk taking action rush. (If you don't know how people think in the hood you don't know what I'm talking about) and theres alot of other reasons I will post at a later time. But what do I know people just want it legal so they could feel happy (high) all the time because they can't handle feelings sober. |

Actually if it's legal, that means that quality can go up and prices can go down, since all the growers will be competing with each other to sell the best product for the cheapest price.

In Europe, they do a fair job of regulating it though. Part of our prob is that we have this idea that legal pot'd be something we could just plant and grow and use and sell like we do already, but that it'd be okay this time and nothing could happen.
In reality, if we legalize pot, there'd have to be rules about it, it'd be like any other crop, but in order to make sure that there's good quality and good prices, the government could possibly regulate the market, or not, it could work out either way.
Btw, if you look in some news articles, now the illegal pot growers are against legalizing it because they don't want their profits cut. What a bunch of two-faced bitches...

it should be legal just because alcohol and cigs are legal already....specially alcohol.. disables the body more than weed. even though weed sometimes does disable you from thinking straight and may put you in risk. in the other hand cigs dont put you in any danger or risk like alcohol and weed.
